Women’s university convocation today – The Hindu

The Akka Mahadevi Women’s University of the state of Karnataka awards honorary doctorates to three top performers, the writer Janaki Srinivasmurthy, who is known under her pseudonym Vaidehi, the musician Suma Sudheendra and the entrepreneur Kalpana Saroj.

Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, who is the university’s chancellor, will be the honoris causa Grade of these eminent figures at the 12th convocation of the University of Vijayapura on Tuesday.

The university will organize a simple ceremony in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines and only gold medal and award winners and doctoral students will be allowed to receive their degrees in person, Vice Chancellor BK Tulasimala told journalists on Monday.

The Chair of the Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy, will submit the convening address online. University Minister CN Ashwath Narayan will be present.

The university awards gold medals and cash prizes to 76 undergraduate and graduate students to 48 students.

A total of 11,208 students are eligible to acquire degrees, diplomas, postgraduate and doctoral degrees. These include a total of 996 graduates of the MA, M.Com, M.Sc, M.Ed, MP.Ed, MLISc, MSW, MFM and MCA courses. Up to 89 postgraduate diplomas will be awarded in yoga, music, DFM, and fashion technology streams.

A total of 10,123 students receive the degrees BA, BSW, B.Ed, BP.Ed, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, BF.Ed, BCA and BFT.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on the AKK TV YouTube channel and the university’s social media channels.
