UPMC to build 636-bed tower

UPMC, based in Pittsburgh, will build a new 17-story tower with 636 beds on the site of the former children’s hospital.

The project will occupy nearly 900,000 square feet and will serve ICU patients as well as other patients, according to Oakland Planning and Development Corporation.

The start of construction is planned for summer 2022, the opening of the tower is planned for autumn 2026.
