Udupi, January 8th: Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao warned private hospitals not to deny beds to Covid patients on Friday January 7, saying that tough measures would be taken against hospitals in such cases.

Speaking here with heads of private hospitals in Zilla Panchayat, the DC said: “If the private hospitals operating under Ayushman Bharat refuse beds for the treatment of Covid-19 patients sent by the district administration, strict measures will be taken taken against these hospitals. “

“According to government guidelines, all hospitals in the district should reserve a fixed number of beds in all categories for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. If a hospital refuses to treat patients sent by the county government, strict measures will be taken. “Under the KPME Act and the Civil Protection Act, such hospitals are taken,” the DC warned.

“All private hospitals should report to the county government about visits by ILI and SARI patients to their hospitals. Information should be uploaded to the portal set up for this purpose on a daily basis. Action will be taken against hospitals that do not collect information, ”he added.

He also called on hospitals to check the functionality of all types of equipment used to treat Covid-19 patients. “If there is a problem in the hospital, it should be reported to the county government and corrected,” he said.

Hospitals should make the costs of all types of treatment, including Covid-19, visible to all. When moving the patient from one hospital to another, all documentation should be made available without undue delay. Adequate information about the ABRK program should be provided before a patient is admitted to the hospital, Rao said.
