St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny has extra ICU bed capacity to deal with Covid-19 cases

St. Luke’s Hospital has additional intensive care beds to cope with the current wave of Covid-19 cases.

That is according to its general manager.

13 patients are currently being treated locally for the virus, two of them in intensive care.

The Carlow and Kilkenny General Hospital has up to six intensive care beds, but staffing issues could mean they would not be able to properly staff them.

Anne Slattery also urges anyone who has not yet been fully vaccinated to reconsider, as this would help ease the pressure on the ICU.
