Smart mattress maker Sleep Number unveiled its latest upgrades to the award-winning 360 Smart Bed range at CES 2022, including the ability to detect potential sleep issues like insomnia and sleep apnea.
With a suite of built-in sensors, the new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed aims to “proactively monitor and improve a person’s sleep and health over time and respond to their changing needs as life evolves”. In short, Sleep Number positions itself as the smart bed you can get old with.
According to Sleep Number, the redesigned 360 Smart Bed will monitor your overall wellbeing and sleep health and generate real-time suggestions to help you sleep better. At CES, the company also said that over time and as you learn, the smart bed’s AI will be able to detect “abnormal events” and warn you if something is wrong.
The 360 Smart Bed’s potential ability to alert users to their risk of developing insomnia or sleep apnea and other health conditions will generate a lot of buzz, but the brand doesn’t have FDA approval for it, meaning it is a future target acts. This is a huge leap for even one of the best built-in sleep tracking mattress brands, so we’re excited to see what happens here.
We know that so far about the new Smart Bed Sleep Number 360 …
New Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed: price, release date
The new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed was unveiled at CES 2022, but you won’t be able to buy it until 2023. Gutting, right? It’s priced at $ 1,099, which is on the low end when compared to the cost of the brand’s other sleep tracking mattresses.
Sleep Number has also announced a range of smart bedroom furniture (pricing not available yet) to accompany the new 360 Smart Bed. This includes mobility aids that help people who need help getting in and out.
The star of Sleep Number’s smart furniture show looks like an extra tall headboard and border with built-in shelves, but there’s more to see here. It is equipped with ambient lighting that supports your circadian rhythm (your internal clock), as well as custom white noise and noise cancellation technology to block out noisy neighbors and other sleep killers.
Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed 2022: features
The new 360 Smart Bed builds on the advantages of the existing Sleep Number smart mattress series and promises next-generation sleep and wellness tracking at the same time. It’s designed to be accessible to everyone, but you’ll need to purchase the companion bedroom mobility aids to get the most of it.
“A person’s sleep health needs change throughout their lives, and when people experience milestones, they need solutions that will help them live healthy and independent lives,” said Annie Bloomquist, chief innovation officer, Sleep Number. “Our latest 360 intelligent beds learn from over 13 billion hours of proprietary sleep data and support sleep health in every phase.”
Milestones here include pregnancy and aging, but Sleep Number also has an eye on pinpointing your future risk of developing sleep problems like insomnia.
This data was used to produce “high-tech textiles, antimicrobial components and graphite-reinforced foam”. The latter is nothing new – many of the best cooling mattresses and cooling mattress toppers already use graphite – but still a welcome addition for sleepers who repeatedly suffer from insomnia from overheating in bed.
It gets better for hot sleepers too, as the new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed actively monitors body temperature to create a “microclimate” in addition to tilting the bed to improve airflow by lifting your head slightly.
Here you will also find foot warming, snore detection and general sleep tracking (how much and how long).
Smart beds are expensive, but if you want to see how the cutting edge of smart mattress technology can close your eyes, the Smart Bed Sleep Number 360 is worth considering when it launches in 2023 (starting at $ 1,099) .
Can’t wait that long? Then the current generation of the Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed range is now available at prices starting at $ 899 for the c2 Smart Bed at Sleep Number. You have 100 nights to try it out at home and it comes with a 15 year warranty.
