Sarawak’s ICU bed utilisation rate takes a dip to 41.6 per cent

KUCHING (January 9): Bed occupancy in the intensive care unit (ICU) in Sarawak due to Covid-19 fell to 41.6 percent yesterday, compared to 45.5 percent on Friday.

A Ministry of Health (MoH) infographic shared on Facebook showed that Sarawak’s use of intensive care beds for Covid-19 patients was the lowest in the country.

The rate in Sarawak was well below the nationwide intensive care bed occupancy rate of 56.8 percent yesterday.

Kelantan had the highest ICU bed usage at 68.2 percent, followed by Klang Valley (68.1 percent), Penang (65.9 percent), Terengganu (65.6 percent) and Perak (60 percent).

Other states and territories whose ICU bed occupancy was lower than the national rate were Johor (56.3 percent), Sabah (52.4 percent), Negeri Sembilan (51.3 percent), Melaka (51.1 percent) , Labuan (50 percent). )), Pahang (48.3 percent), Perlis (47.4 percent) and Kedah (42.5 percent).
