Sarawak ICU bed utilisation rate rises slightly to 55.4 per cent

KUCHING (November 27): Bed occupancy in the intensive care unit (ICU) in Sarawak due to Covid-19 rose slightly to 55.4 percent yesterday, compared with 49.6 percent on Thursday.

A Ministry of Health (MoH) infographic shared on Facebook showed that Sarawak’s use of intensive care beds for Covid-19 patients was the sixth lowest in the country.

Sarawak’s rate was lower than the national intensive care bed occupancy rate of 63.8 percent yesterday.

Klang Valley topped the table with 79 percent of intensive care beds occupied, followed by Penang (75.3 percent), Terengganu (74.6 percent),
Kelantan (73 percent), Sabah (70.8 percent), Perak (68.1 percent) and Melaka (64.1 percent).

Other states and territories that had lower ICU bed occupancy rates than the national rate were Negeri Sembilan (57.9 percent), Johor (47.7 percent), Pahang (47.5 percent), Perlis (47.4 percent) ), Kedah (43.8 percent). ) and Labuan (41.7 percent).
