MARGAO: Maria Murena Miranda, the Principal of the Government High School (GHS) in Morpirla, Quepem, will be conferred with the prestigious National Award by the President of India Droupadi Murmu on September 5.

The Headmistress is among 46 teachers from across the country who will be conferred with the National Award for Teachers 2022.

“I credit my success to my devoted team of teachers and lovely students,” said Miranda, reacting to the development.

“I am happy and excited to receive the award. I am glad my work with tribal students has been recognized. I introduced many innovative ideas in teaching such as the mobile library, remote learning, online learning, peer-to-peer learning, integrated learning besides house visits,” said Miranda.

“All these ideas have helped me to achieve 100 per cent SSC results 7 times. My students are first-generation learners from poor backgrounds, but they have excelled in science, talent search, exams, national level competitions, and state-level sports, among others,” she added.
