Punjab Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi laid the foundation stone for a 350 bed civil hospital in Sector 6 on Tuesday and also approved Rs 10 crore for the Mohali auditorium.
Channi said the new hospital will provide the best in health services and cost Rs 40 crore. There will be a 24-hour emergency service, OPDs and wards for all disciplines, seven modular operating theaters, separate mother and child wings, four-bed dialysis units, a blood bank with component and platelet facilities, a morgue, a pharmacy with free medicines, homeopathy and Ayurveda departments, physiotherapy services, staff apartments and three-story parking garages, the CM said after the foundation stone was laid.
He also announced plans to build 25,000 homes for the economically weaker sections (EWS) across the state and that property rights will be granted under the Basera program. The CM accepted the request of the local MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu and announced that the conditions for stand owners to build a second floor would be relaxed. He also announced Rs 10 crore for the city’s development and Rs 7 crores for the laying of a synthetic track in the Sector-78 sports stadium.
