Gobsmacked: Peter Crouch was left in hysterics after being pranked by Michael McIntyre for his Big Show segment, Midnight Gameshow
Poor Peter was subjected to a number of games while half-asleep, including a visit from Romesh Ranganathan dressed like a robot.
But the biggest shock came when Michael switched off the lights, demanding Peter tell him what things they’d changed in the bedroom while the lights were off.
Quickly pointing out several clues, Peter was unaware that Abbey had disappeared, to be replaced by This Morning’s Holly.
Didn’t notice a thing! The footballer, 41, was given the shock of his life after his wife Abbey Clancy was replaced in his bed by Holly Willoughby during a game of spot the difference
When he turned to see her next to him, he jumped in shock and hid under the duvet before collapsing in laughter.
Holly smiled and said: ‘Hi Pete!’, while Peter could only get out: ‘I wasn’t expecting that one!’
Holly took in the funny situation and admitted: ‘This is weird for me too!’
Rudely woken! Peter was soundly asleep in his bed when he was woken up by Michael bursting into his room with TV cameras
She later took to her Instagram to share a clip of the hilarious moment and write: ‘If you missed this from @michaelmcintyresbigshow at the weekend you’ll enjoy this @crouchy’s reaction is the best’.
An in on the joke Abbey commented: ‘Holl this was the best ever ❤️ love you’.
The bedtime antics come after Abbey recently admitted she is a ‘freak in the sheets’ when it comes to her love life with husband Peter.
Hysterical: When he turned to see her next to him, he jumped in shock and hid under the duvet before collapsing in laughter
She made the candid admission as she discussed her early courtship with footballer Peter, 41, on their podcast The Therapy Crouch.
The pair recalled how they met at a birthday party in Liverpool underneath a restaurant where Abbey worked as a waitress.
Peter said: ‘Ab came over to me. It was insane. I couldn’t pull a hamstring in London. I went up to Liverpool and then you came over and I was like: ‘Wow — this place is incredible.
Abbey replied: ‘You scored that day. That was your first goal.’

Peter went on: ‘I was struggling. Then, bang — I scored two and my hat-trick was Ab in the evening.
‘You came over, and this sounds corny, but I have never seen a more beautiful girl in my life. I always remember your eyes. Your mum has got them as well. They’re incredible.’
It was a good night for Peter anyway as he was out celebrating scoring twice against Wigan at Anfield after no goals for 18 games.
Abbey admitted she was apprehensive about telling her parents Karen and Geoffrey that she was dating a Liverpool player.
She said: ‘He pulled up outside my mum’s and my whole family were looking out the window.
‘I don’t know why I was being so secretive. I think because I was so young and I was embarrassed to tell my mum I was going on a date.
‘My dad is the biggest Liverpool fan on Earth, but I remember telling them when we had a few dates and he went ballistic.
‘He was like, ‘I can’t believe you are going out with a football player. It’s such a bad look.”
Far from fine dining for their first date, Peter took Abbey to his local ‘old man’s pub’ in order to avoid the paparazzi.
Abbey said: ‘I think you had a bit of an ulterior motive because when we got into the pub, Pete was like: ‘That is my bedroom window there.’
Smitten: The couple married in 2011 and recently renewed their wedding vows in a ‘beautiful’ ceremony on the beach in the Maldives over Christmas
‘I was thinking: ‘Hang on a minute, does he think he is going to get me p****d and take me back to his flat? Because that is not happening whatsoever.’
Peter replied: ‘It wasn’t a great first date. But at the time I was playing for Liverpool and just got in the England squad so everything for me had to be low-key.
‘I had to find a girl that I loved but I didn’t want to take you straight into something mad. I wanted to go where no one could see us and find out if we got on.’
Abbey said: ‘Well that little wooden stool in the back of an old man’s pub was perfect.’
The former Britain’s Next Top Model star arrived to the date with only £7 in her purse and admitted she’d never bought a drink for anyone before.
She said: ‘Pete got the first drink, then I thought I would get the next one. I had never bought a drink in my life. I didn’t even know how much it was.
‘Pete wanted Guinness. So I went to the bar, got Guinness and a glass of tap water because I was scared it was going to be more than £7.’
Peter described Abbey as a ‘tough one to crack’ to which Abbey said: ‘Yeah, because I am not a complete ho.’
Abbey then asked Peter if he considered her a ‘frigid’ on the date but he said: ‘Not a fridge, no.’
Remarking on what she’s like in the bedroom, Abbey proclaimed: ‘Lady on the street, freak in bed.’
Peter replied: ‘Ludacris said it well,’ referring to the rapper’s song Nasty Girl which has the lyrics: ‘Clean in the work place, dirty in the sheets’.
The connection was instant for the couple, with Abbey insisting she knew he was The One on that first date.
She said: ‘I knew from the day I met you that we were going to be together forever. Call that sounds corny but I did know that and I thought, ‘I don’t want to rush this.”
