Dave Davis, Oologah-Talala Medical Emergency Systems Manager, presented the COVID numbers to the Rogers County Board of County Commissioners during the regular meeting.
Region 2 – which includes counties Craig, Delaware, Kay, Mayes, Noble, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Rogers, and Washington – has a COVID ICU bed and a non-COVID ICU bed.
Davis said there are five Med-Surge beds and 17 non-COVID Medical Surge beds available.
“We look good compared to the rest of the state,” said Davis.
Davis said nothing is available in Region 7 – that’s just Tulsa County. Davis said there is an emergency room for a COVID patient and 10 non-COVID patents are held.
“We are the only nationwide with an available bed in the state for COVID,” he said. “There are three ICU beds available across the state.”
Davis said there are 42 medical beds available and 88 non-COVID beds available across the state.
“In the state, they are keeping six COVID patients in the emergency room because they have no space to place them,” he said.
There are 24 non-COVID patients awaiting placement as well, he said.
“Unfortunately, five patients died waiting in the emergency room for bed placement,” he said.
68 patients have been moved in the past two months – a 61 percent decrease from the previous two months, Davis said.
“We look pretty good there,” he said
Davis said they’ve gone from 10-12 transfer requests per week to one patient transfer request per week in the past three weeks.
