Even if you’re not in a five-star hotel, you can expect the linens on your bed to be thoroughly washed between guests. But that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case with the duvet, says Brandon Berkson, Hotel expert and founder of the curated boutique hotel guide Hotels Above Par.
“A lot of hotels don’t change duvets regularly,” explains Berkson. “With that in mind, I often take the covers off first before anything. And I find that difficult because I am obsessed with sleeping entangled in my covers at home.”
The travel experts from One Mile at a Time also question the frequency with which duvets are washed. And a microbiologist told CNN that hotel bed covers are rarely, if ever, washed.
