Nashik: Bed occupancy in public and private hospitals is currently around 2.74%, down from 1.16% about a week ago; although the number of active cases in the city of Nashik is continuously increasing.
Currently, the city has a total of 6,088 active patients, 233 of whom are hospitalized. Of these, 116 patients require oxygen and ventilator support.
Nashik city government officials said cases are increasing but still 96% of patients are symptomatic and mildly symptomatic and are in home isolation. Hospitalization is only 4%.
The city had just 235 active patients as of December 28 last year. Over the past 16 days, the number of active patients has increased to 6,088 as of Jan. 13.
NMC officials said they have prepared 8,500 beds in city and private hospitals, including 3,900 oxygen beds, 1,000 intensive care units and 800 beds with ventilator support.
NMC medical superintendent Bapusaheb Nagargoye said the spread of the coronavirus was rapid but only four out of 100 patients were admitted to hospitals.
1,996 cases in 24 hours
Nashik district reported 1,996 Covid-19 cases as of Friday, including 1,503 from Nashik city alone. No deaths were reported in the county on Friday. Up to 1,099 patients were discharged from across the district on Friday, including 651 recoveries in the city of Nashik.
The district has 8,721 active cases, including 6,849 in the city of Nashik.
