MEDIA ADVISORY – Ford Government is Planning to Give Tens of Thousands of New 30-year Long-Term Care Bed Licenses to For-Profits: New Report to be Released Across Ontario with Local & Provincial Information

TORONTO, Nov. 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Last year the Ford government pushed ahead with a plan to outsource tens of thousands of long-term care beds to for-profit operators, including those with the worst records during the pandemic. Instead of holding for-profit operators accountable for the horrors we continue to experience in long-term care, they are getting new 30-year licenses and bed extensions paid for with public funds.

The Ontario Health Coalition and local health coalitions joined families of loved ones in long-term care to release a new report. Public Money Private Profit: The Ford Government and the Privatization of the Next Generation of Ontario’s Long-Term Care, across Ontario Monday November 29th through Friday December 3rd.

Each regional media conference will include the regional and local information on the thousands of new and refurbished long-term care beds being given out to for-profit companies in their area, family members of residents who have died or are currently in for-profit long-term care appointment care and the records of those operators in the area.
