Matawalle inaugurates 300-bed general hospital

Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle has inaugurated a 300-bed general hospital in the state’s Birnin-Magaji parish.

This was announced by Matawalle, represented by the Chairman of the Hospital Services Management Board, Bashir Maru, on Friday.

He said the state government would hire more staff to provide adequate services in the state hospitals.

“The state government plans to modernize and redesign both primary and secondary health facilities to improve health care in the state.

“The government is working to provide state-of-the-art facilities for effective health care in all parts of the state,” he said.

The Nigerian News Agency reports that the project was initiated by the government of former Governor Abdullaziz Yari.

However, the Yari administration only carried out 40 percent of the project prior to the end of the term.

The project was taken over by the Matawall administration, who remodeled and completed the 60 percent building of the general hospital.

The governor said, “As you know, we took over the construction of this hospital from where the last administration left it at 40 percent.

“We have rebuilt and provided additional structures to accommodate more patients and staff.

“It’s now completed and has some of the latest equipment you can find anywhere in the world.

“We used to provide a state-of-the-art hospital in Gusau. It is the only one of its kind in the northwest region. ”

Dr. Salisu Ya’u, the hospital’s medical director, said the hospital’s operations would be completely relocated from the makeshift location to the new location.

Ya’u praised Matawall for equipping the hospital with modern facilities.

He assured the state government that all facilities provided would be used appropriately.

Kabiru Ladan Maigoro, the local government’s sole administrator, said they would provide the hospital with the necessary assistance, particularly in the area of maintenance.

“We’ll do the minor repairs and ensure safety to keep the facility running effectively,” said Maigoro.

The emir of Birnin Magaji, Alhaji Husseini Dan-Ali, also said the community would ensure the proper use of the hospital.

Dan-Ali said the emirate would provide the hospital with the necessary assistance, especially security.

He praised the governor for completing the facility and equipping it with modern equipment.
