A local rehabilitation hospital recently welcomed a former Purdue University leader to its human resources team.
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital this week said it hired Cynthia Springer as its new vice president of human resources.
Springer brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience to her new role.
She joins Mary Free Bed from Purdue University Fort Wayne, where she served for over five years, most recently as associate vice chancellor-human resources and institutional equity.
Springer also served as trustee of Trinity Health St. Mary’s board of directors, vice president of human resources and organizational development at Grand Rapids Community College and senior administrator, human resources at Amway.
Springer said she is excited to return to her hometown of Grand Rapids to take on her new role, where she will lead talent acquisition, general human resources, total rewards and employee health teams.
“I am passionate about people and excited to support Mary Free Bed’s mission with strategically aligned human resources practices,” she said. “I’m committed to leading with possibility thinking, developing deeper collaborations and creating purposeful people-centric initiatives.”
Springer is a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient from Davenport University, where she received an associate’s degree in legal studies and a Bachelor of Business Administration. She also has a master’s degree in management and organizational development from Aquinas College and is currently completing an executive Juris Doctor from Purdue Global Concord Law School.
Springer recently served on the Grand Rapids Civil Service Board. She’s also been a member of the Michigan chapter of the American Council of Education Network for Women Leaders in Higher Education.
