Man is shot to death while lying in his bed in Cleveland’s South Broadway neighborhood, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man was killed while lying in his bed after someone fired shots into his home in the city’s South Broadway neighborhood, police say.

Gerald Loper, 61, was shot to death about 12:40 am at his home on the 3500 block of East 75th Street, according to police and the office of the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. Officers found Loper in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to his neck.

Paramedics pronounced Loper dead at the scene, police said.

There were three other individuals in the home when the shooting occurred. No other injuries were reported. Loper was lying in his bed when he was struck by gunfire, the police said.

The shooting remains under investigation by the police, and no one has been arrested. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 216-623-5464.
