Bhopal: A 65-year-old Ludhiana man allegedly died under mysterious circumstances at a hotel in TT Nagar on Thursday. His body was found wrapped in a blanket sitting over a staff room bed in the hotel.
As per reports, he came out of his room and sat on the staff room bed in front of the manager covering himself with a blanket. When he remained in the same position for a long time without talking, the manager called his name.
When he gave no response, the manager informed TT Nagar police.
Acting on information, TT Nagar police reached the spot and registered a case.
The post-mortem of the body would be conducted after his family members reach Bhopal. Prima facie police suspect that he died of a cardiac arrest. Investigation officer ASI BS Verma said that the deceased Ashok Kumar Gupta, 65, was a resident of South City Ludhiana in Punjab. His wife and son reside in Canada while his daughter resides in Ludhiana. Ashok was undergoing treatment at a private hospital near the Board Office. Around two days back, he came to Bhopal and as usual stayed at the hotel in TT Nagar. He went to the hospital on Wednesday and returned to the hotel. He woke up on Thursday morning and he came out of the room wrapped in a blanket. He started talking to the hotel manager and went to the staff room in front where he sat on the bed.
When the hotel manager and staff returned after having tea, they found that Gupta was sitting in the same position when they left. He called his name but Gupta didn’t respond after which police were informed.
Additional DCP Shrut Kirti Somvanshi said that prima facie no foul play was found in the incident and it seems to be a death due to cardiac arrest.
