Kerala health minister rules out concerns over hospital beds
George said the majority of intensive care beds and ventilators in state hospitals were still vacant
With increasing Covid cases in Kerala raising concerns about hospital bed availability, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said the majority of intensive care unit beds and ventilators in the state hospitals were still vacant.
Of the 3,107 ICU beds in state hospitals, only 43.3 percent were now occupied. So far, only 13 percent of the available ventilators have been occupied. Therefore, there is currently no reason to worry, said the minister.
A total of 2.64 percent of active Covid cases are currently reported in the state, of which only a small percentage required hospitalization.
