jumbo covid: Jumbo Covid Centre Shut As Cases Drop | Navi Mumbai News

Navi Mumbai: The 1,200-bed Jumbo Covid Care Center (CCC) at Cidco Exhibition Centre, Vashi has been shut due to a drop in fresh covid cases in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area. Earlier, the NMMC had closed as many as 16 CCCs after the number of active cases had dipped to below 200.
However, the 75-bed Dedicated Covid Health Center (DCHC) at the Cidco Exhibition Centre, which was outsourced to a private healthcare firm prior to the third wave, has been taken over by NMMC for Covid patients who turn out to be critical.
According to NMMC Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Dr Pramod Patil, “Zero occupancy at the Jumbo Covid Care Center in the last few days has forced NMMC to shut down the centre. The fresh patients have been found to be either asymptomatic or with mild symptoms for whom home quarantine is advised. Other centers were already closed a few weeks ago. However, we have kept the ICU facility at the DCHC open for severely symptomatic covid patients.”
Massive fall in new covid cases has led to zero occupancy in all covid care centres. The number of active cases had dipped to 110 on Monday from 17,605, cases during the peak of third wave. NMMC had established 17 covid centers in view of the third wave. While 51 patients are in home isolation, the remaining infected are being treated at private hospitals. The overall recovery rate has improved to 98.9%, highest till date from the earlier 97.8% last month.
