JBT diploma holders protest in Mandi : The Tribune India

Bad, November 29th

Graduates and trainees of the Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) held a protest march here today. They called on the state government to exclude B.Ed graduates from hiring JBT teachers in elementary schools.

The Himachal Pradesh Supreme Court recently ruled that B.Ed graduates could apply for the position of JBT teacher in elementary schools, disappointing JBT diploma holders. The court ordered the HP Public Service Commission to consider candidates with B.Ed. degrees for the positions at JBT.

Abhishek Thakur, President of the JBT Diploma Holders Association, said: “We are calling on Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to bring the matter back to the HP High Court on behalf of the JBT Diploma Holders. Recruiting B.Ed graduates for JBT positions in elementary schools will have a direct impact on JBT diploma holders in the state. ”

“B.Ed graduates can apply for the post of trained college teacher (TGT) in middle, high and high secondary schools, while holders of a JBT diploma are only eligible for a JBT position in elementary schools,” he added. – TNS
