BENGALURU: The Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research received an additional heart hospital complex with 350 beds on Wednesday.
The new complex was built by the Infosys Foundation under the direction of its Chairman Sudha Murty at a cost of Rs. 103 billion.
The institute will now have 1,800 beds, including those in its units in Mysuru and Kalaburagi, said Director Dr. CN Manjunath.
“The new Infosys block will have 100 beds in the intensive care unit, 250 general beds as well as two cardiac catheters and three operating rooms,” said the doctor.
“Jayadeva is one of the best hospitals in the country, providing high quality, affordable heart care to poor and needy patients. We look forward to supporting our hands in this, ”said Sudha Murty.
Regarding her association with government agencies, Murty said her children were born in government hospitals. “My father and sister, both doctors, worked in government hospitals,” she said.
Prime Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the state was working on a health vision document. “In all regional centers we should have hospitals like Jayadeva that poor patients go to,” he said.
