According to reports, IRCTC sources have alleged that Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will call a meeting next week at which a decision may be taken on the resumption of services related to food distribution on trains, basic kitchen, galley, bedding and blanket provision to take.

India reported 16,326 new COVID-19 cases and 666 deaths in the past 24 hours on Friday. Daily deaths rose after Kerala revised the data to add 292 deaths from previous periods. Active cases have dropped to 1.73 lakh – the lowest in 233 days.

Since March 2020, in the wake of the increase in COVID-19 cases and the subsequent lockdown, the railway had suspended e-catering and other services such as the provision of bedding and blankets.
