Four poster beds can make your bedroom feel romantic, calm and peaceful. But four-poster beds themselves are, well, expensive. You can get the canopy look, but without the expense. Just make your own.
What you need for your four-poster bed
For these projects, you will need a tape measure, a screwdriver, and a bolt finder. And since particles can get into your eyes when screwing into the ceiling plaster above your head, you should also wear safety goggles.
Make an embroidery hoop canopy
To create a rounded, draped effect, use transparent and large curtains embroidery hoop. To hang this canopy, screw pot hooks into the ceiling in three places, 24 inches apart. Install curtain rails above your bed
For a larger, curved look, you can use a ceiling-mounted one curtain track and a curtain set with eyelets or a shower curtain. Install the track over your bed with the included hardware, then hook the curtains to it. This also allows you to retract your canopy if you wish.
Use curtain rods around your bed
Just curtain rods can also be ceiling mounted and aligned to either side of your bed for an enclosed, canopy-like effect. Attach drywall anchors and screws to the ceiling, then add the rods with the curtains. With the right hardware prevents them from loosening or falling off.
Use the curtain rod panel method
To drape curtains at the head or foot of your bed, all you need is two ceiling-mounted rods. Simply thread your panel into one pole, then drape it over the second. This design can also be used on either side of the bed to drape up and over, except you need to thread a curtain panel into each pole and drape them across the bed. This method works best for bold prints and fewer wrinkles.
Use industrial pipes for your canopy
Using pipes and flanges is also a way to add a canopy to your bed with a bit of industrial flair. For this method, you must either be able to cut the tubes to size or purchase pre-cut tubes to your bed’s dimensions. use one flange on every corner and a Two-way right angle elbow on every corner. Hanging your whistles will be easier if you assemble them on the floor first. Once your flanges are screwed into the ceiling, thread your curtains onto your pipes and screw the pipes in.
