Ex-hotel worker reveals why you should NEVER strip your bed sheets

SOME Brits might think that removing the bed while staying in a hotel is helpful.

However, one hotel manager has revealed that’s not the case – and explains why you should never do it.

Flavio Serreti, manager of Soprano Villas and Rome Lofts, said it can actually mean more work before housekeeping arrives.

He told Insider, “On busy days, staff simply refill the pillows and reuse the same sheets, with linens only changed every three to four days.

“Turning the bed down every morning can add unnecessary minutes to housekeeping’s time-sensitive tasks.”

Many hotels do not change linens every day unless requested to do so.

Guests can still call the front desk to ask for fresh sheets.

However, some staff have said that guests should strip the bed when checking out, as it makes their job that much easier.

Past cleaners have said, “Housekeeping loves it when you do this, it saves a lot of hassle.

“Also try to keep it on a waist-high spot as they often try to grab it all at once to speed things up and it’s less dangerous to their back if it’s not on the ground.”

Many guests have said that they always do it themselves.

One person said: “Every time I stay in a hotel, I always strip the beds and pile the sheets and dirty towels in the bathroom.”

Some explained how it was taught to them by their parents: “Every time we stayed in a hotel room (which was a lot), my dad would bundle all the linens up and add them to the dirty laundry pile.

“I never understood why until I was a house cleaner.”

And making the bed when you leave the room may look tidier, but it also makes your job more difficult.

A former housekeeper who worked at a resort in Australia told Business Insider, “If we think you haven’t used the bed at all, we may not change the sheets.

“So it’s better if it looks sleepy.”
