Diploma in Elementary Education in Kerala: Apply by November 23 | DEd Course in Kerala

Applications for the two-year (4-semester) Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course in Govt / Aided and Private Self-financing Teacher Training Institutions in Kerala have been requested for 2020-21. There are 101 training institutions in the state / aided category and 94 in the self-financing category.

This is the aptitude course for appointment as a primary school lower / upper school teacher.

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the pre-degree exam conducted by one of the universities in Kerala or the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, with Kerala scoring at least 50% of the points. Those in the OBC category only need 45%, while applicants in the SC / ST categories only need to pass an aptitude test.

With the exception of SC / ST applicants who have passed the proficiency test more than three times are not admitted. Attempting the ‘Save a Year’ (SAY) exam is also treated as an opportunity.

The applicant should not be under 17 years old and not older than 33 years (as of July 1, 2021). Applicants in the OBC category receive a 3 year relaxation and those in SC / ST receive a 5 year relaxation in the upper age limit.

Of the total number of seats, 40%, 40% and 20%, respectively, are allocated to science, humanities and commerce.

Separate notifications have been issued for state / funded institutions and self-financing institutions. In self-financing institutions, 50% of the seats are open merit seats and the remaining seats are in management.

Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format available along with the communications at www.education.kerala.gov.in

For applications in the Govt / Aided category, the application fee is Rs.5 / – and for the self-financing category it is Rs.100 / -. The fee is to be transferred in accordance with the notifications. In both categories, SC / ST applicants are exempt from paying the application fee.

An applicant can only apply to one financial district in the “Government / Funded” and “Self-Financing” categories. The institution for which the applicant wishes to be considered in the financial district must be specified in the application in order of preference. The list of institutions is available in the communication. The application must be submitted to the Deputy Education Director of the financial district entitled to apply by November 23, 2021 at the latest. The addresses of the deputy directors of education are given in the notice.

A separate application with the prescribed fee must be submitted to the institute management for consideration for board seats. Please refer to the notification for details. The last date is 11/23/2021.
