An offer for the construction of a care home with 70 beds and 24 affordable houses in Sheringham is in the hands of the planners.

The project, called West Wood, would be on Weybourne Road next to The Reef, the city’s new pool and leisure center, which opened on Tuesday November 30th.

The site is owned by Hollands Sheringham Ltd and housed the city’s allotment gardens until 2010.

According to the plans, the nursing home would create 67 jobs and would be accessed via a T-junction on Weybourne Road.

Evidence shows that Avery Healthcare’s nursing home and homes, which range from one to four-bedroom apartments, are run by flagship homes.

If approval is given, the land would be sold to Flagship, with half of the funds then being transferred to the city council.

The remaining money would be donated to charities such as the Sheringham and District Sports Association and Woodfields School.

A decision is expected by March 1st next year.
