BED-STUY, BROOKYLN — Crown Heights’ loss is Bed-Stuy’s gain.
“We have a creative kitchen theme, and I think we’re all chomping at the bit to put food on plates,” he told EaterNYC, adding that the new Ursula will include cocktail service at night.
Last April, in a Grub Street article that called Ursula possibly “America’s best new restaurant,” See said, in addition to the Sterling Place spot being a temporary sublet, he recognized the need for growth but also the towering financial obstacles, hinting that he might need to take on investors.
“You’ve got to have $40,000 up front just to sign the lease,” See told Grub Street.
To help with the costs of moving and expanding, See started a Gofundme fundraiser, which is already about halfway to his goal of $60,000.
And while Ursula is moving, See told EaterNY that it’s commitment to inclusion and diversity is staying put, with plans to host events supporting the LGBTQ+ community at their new Bed-Stuy home.
