BENGALURU: As Covid-19 and Omicron cases in the state steadily increase, State War Room and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) War Room officials are collecting details on hospital beds. The data includes beds available in state and private hospitals in the state, with real-time information on occupied and vacant spaces.

The system and network that existed during the second wave were restarted. “We have learned from the past where there were delays in the coordination and availability of data, and have already prepared bed details in private and public hospitals. We are now preparing the list of beds in private and state medical colleges because the first 50 percent of beds in these areas will be reserved as cases increase, “the official said.

According to the Covid-19 Hospital Bed Management System (CHBMS) and Warroom records, of the 1,800 beds reserved in state and referral hospitals, 45-47 beds are occupied and the rest are empty. “The list of beds equipped with oxygen, intensive care units and other categories is also in preparation. Meetings were held with hospital associations.

The bed inventory prepared in the second wave is checked and refurbished. Don’t panic, because 60-65 percent of hospitalized patients are not double-vaccinated and 35-40 percent have comorbidities and mild symptoms. With the peak expected to be between January and the end or February, all the preparations and coordination will be in place, ”the official added. Officials are also updating bed details in other counties to treat patients based on urgency and need.
