COVID-19 tracker: Tokyo reports nine cases as hospital bed occupancy rate at 0.9%

Tokyo confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, with the daily number below 30 for the 17th consecutive day.

The seven-day mean of new cases was 14.1 compared to 17.3 a week earlier. As in the previous day, no new deaths from COVID-19 were confirmed on Sunday.

The number of serious cases remained the same as on Saturday at seven.

The Tokyo city government said hospital bed occupancy was only 0.9% on Saturday. The city government began offering bed occupancy on a daily basis on Friday and said the availability of medical services will be a key in deciding their coronavirus measures.

On Saturday, 127 new cases were confirmed nationwide, while only one COVID-related death was reported. There were 50 patients with severe symptoms, up from one Friday.
