Bed-Stuy Art House hosts holiday mart with hopes to uplift community

The Just a Dope Holiday Mart transformed the room in the Bed-Stuy Art House into its first Holiday Mart.

This popular Brooklyn spot found a way to help its neighborhood get items off their vacation list while also helping small businesses.

The market offers everything from cultural art to jewelry and clothing.

The makers of the market hope that the experience will inspire the community.

“We don’t just have gifts that are bought as gifts. These are special articles and we are very excited about them, ”said Thysha Shabazz, Communications Manager.

The organizers hope that the Just a Dope Holiday Mart will grow into an annual event.

The event will run for another two weeks. The market will be open again on December 12th and December 19th.

During the last week of the Mart, there are live performances and theatrical performances in the Künstlerhaus, which are open to the entire neighborhood.
