Increase in bed occupancy in infectious facilities in N Kazakhstan

PETROPAVLOWSK. KAZINFORM – The Northern Kazakhstan region registered 286 new cases of coronavirus infection last weekend, reports the Kazinform correspondent.

According to the press service of the regional health authority, the highest number of new COVID-19 cases was reported in the city of Petropavlovsk – 110. Kyzylzhar and Zhambyl districts added 36 and 31 new infections, respectively. The Ualikhanovsk district was the only area with no new COVID-19 cases.

In total, 3,092 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the region since early October, compared to 2,268 COVID-19 cases recorded in September.

Six residents of the region died of the coronavirus infection over the weekend. The novel coronavirus has claimed 276 lives in the northern Kazakhstan region since the start of the global pandemic.

841 patients are being treated for COVID-19 in infection facilities in the region. The bed occupancy in these facilities has risen to 53%. 51 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units. The bed occupancy rate in the intensive care units is 44%.

COVID-19 restrictions have been tightened in the region due to the growing number of new cases. If the situation does not change, the region will be locked.
