Alex was absent from his appearance on the morning show as he continues to recover.

He’s been a regular star of the show since 2012 when he started out as a weather presenter, but has recently taken on the role of presenter.

Alex notoriously got into an on-air spell with Piers Morgan over Meghan Markle in March.

Piers then left the show, and Richard Madeley will become the show’s new regular host for the New Year.
