DETROIT – According to Fox 2 Detroit, a 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday night while he was changing to bed on the upper floor of his Detroit home. The boy is expected to survive, police said, but the child was injured in the shooting.
Detroit police were called to a house in the Whittier and Morang area around 8:40 p.m. after someone fired multiple shots into the house. The injured boy wasn’t the only one in the house at the time, but he was the only one who was hit by a bullet.
Police are looking for suspects, but no one has been identified and no clear motive for the shooting has been established. Police do not believe the child was the actual target of the shooting, but believe the suspect targeted the house.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call the Detroit Police Department at 31-596-2200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
